Jorge Donovan – Polo Instructor
Jorge started playing polo at the age of 8 in Argentina and comes from a polo family where grandfather, father, uncle and cousins play. As a teenager Jorge won all the junior tournaments and the Santa Paula trophy for interschool 3 times. In Argentina he competes in high goal tournaments and shares teams with some of the best players in the world. One of the more prestigious events Jorge won is the Presidente Cup and Sojo trophy both 20 goal hcp. Jorge’s life and polo changed in 2002 when he first came to Jamaica, since then he has been competing, and helping to develop the game here. Jorge is the highest handicapped player in Jamaica at 5 goals. On the island he won the Willy De Lisser, High Goal Family tournament, and the NCB Pro AM among others. But his major commitments are with the Hon Dennis Lalor stables, where he manages the training and schooling of his horses of which most of them have been helping the newcomers take an interest in the game of Polo.
These days Jorge divides his year between Jamaica and Argentina where he manages his own string of horses and plays high goal tournaments to keep improving his knowledge and technique. Jorge has been coaching the Hillel High School Polo Team since January 2012 at the Kingston Polo Club. Jorge has been coaching the Kingston Polo Club annual summer camp and tournament since 2005 and has recently started the first mini pony club polo class with students as young as 5 year old!
Lesley Ann Masterton Fong Yee – Polo & Equestrian Instructor
Lesley has represented Jamaica both at home and abroad on both equestrian and polo teams and has won just about all of the local polo tournaments at some point in time. At one point Lesley was one of the top three female polo players in the world and currently still competes all over the world in ladies tournaments. She qualified as an equestrian coach in the UK as a teenager and has coached both equestrian and polo for many years. A past vice president of the Equestrian Federation of Jamaica and secretary of the Jamaica Polo Association, she is currently the JPA delegate to the United States Polo Association and sits on the USPA women’s tournament committee, the equine welfare committee and is the lieutenant governor for the Florida / Caribbean circuit for the USPA. Lesley has been successfully coaching the AISK polo high school team since January 2012 with two inter-school wins in 2012 and 2013. Lesley is also a very active instructor in the Pony Club.
Heidi Lalor – Pony Club Instructor
Heidi has been teaching beginner and novice riders for over 12 years. Heidi began teaching children in Trinidad (2001-2004) Goodwin Heights stables, from there she later taught at the Kingston Polo Club in Jamaica (2005-2009). Heidi now manages Caymanas Pony Club. Heidi has certification for intro coaching Level 1 FEI, as well as, Level 1 coaching, along with preparation & observing FEI level 2 coaching. Heidi enjoys Dressage training, running shows, camps, and other Pony Club related events. Caymans Pony Club can be found on the UK Pony club’s official website as a linked riding center. Heidi continues to develop riding programs to benefit all riders, ages and abilities.
Guy Moore – Visiting UK Pony Club Instructor
Guy is an accredited British Horse Society AI and a UKCC Level 2 Coach who works as a freelance instructor in Oxford, England and the surrounding areas teaching both adults and children. He is also a listed Pony Club Visiting Coach.
Guy has ridden all his life and was a member of Whaddon Chase Branch of the Pony Club from the age of five. Here he participated in rallies, attended annual camps and then as a teenager represented his Branch on various teams at Area and National level. He loved his time as a Pony Club member and was encouraged to start coaching.
Guy still likes to compete regularly in the UK, mainly Eventing and Dressage and since 2013 he has enjoyed escaping the English winters to coach at Caymanas Pony Club.
Georgina Lomas – Pony Club Visiting Instructor
Gina is a UKCC Level 2 Equestrian Coach, Pony Club Accredited Instructor and successful competition rider throughout many disciplines. For 13 years she ran her own riding stables and Pony Club Centre back in Wales UK. She was also a Pony Club Instructor for the local Branch and the local Riding Club.
She enjoys giving people the knowledge and confidence to enjoy horses, and to achieve their goals whatever they may be.
In 2014 she decided to travel Australia, and has been there for the last 18 months. During this time she has experienced many different equestrian jobs including Racing, Eventing, Showjumping, Polocrosse and Polo.
Gina recently hosted and coordinated the Caymanas Pony Club members at the Anglesey Branch of the Pony Club in North Wales for Summer Camp.
Lauren Kilgallon – Visiting Pony Club instructor
I hold my UKCC Level 2, BHS AI and BHS Stage 4 care. I have ridden all my life and was a member of North Staffs Pony Club when I was younger, additionally I have competed in show jumping and dressage.
Most recently I have enjoyed working as part of the team at Abbots Bromley Equestrian Centre which is approved BHS riding school and approved Pony Club Centre and part of an international boarding and day school set in Staffordshire were I teach private and group lessons, pony club and progressive riding tests. I fully enjoy teaching and seeing riders progress and gain confidence within their riding and achieve their goals. I am looking forward to meeting the team at Caymanas Pony Club and begin teaching in September.
Samantha Albert – Visiting Clinician
Samantha Albert is currently based in Newbury, Berkshire, UK. Sam represented Jamaica at the Pan Am Games in 1991 and 2007, she also competed in the World Equestrian Games in 1994, 1998 and 2006. Sam was the first Equestrain to compete for Jamaica at the Olympics in Beijing in 2008 and London 2012. Sam recently retired from competing and is focusing on coaching and training students which has allowed her to visit Jamaica on a regular basis and conduct jumping clinics. Samantha is in the horse sales business and capable of sourcing suitable trained horses and ponies for riders who might be looking for their next equine investment.
